Target Practice FHE

For FHE one evening, we drove up to the corrals and had target practice.

The girls being cheerleaders while me, Dad & Hyrum had a friendly competition. I'm pretty sure I won.

 Hyrum's turn.
 Little Lindsay.
Riley's turn...she's like Merida on "Brave!"
After the bow and arrows, Evan got out his .22 pistol. Unfortunately, it was pretty loud and both Hyrum & Riley didn't like it at all. But other than that, we had a fun FHE!! Too bad I don't remember the scripture we used for that night.....  ;)

Visiting Jeb's Grave

I sure love having Jeb's grave here in Malta. We go to his grave after church on Sundays. We may or may not race home afterwards. Probably a good way to get to see Jeb sooner than later.....er.....we better stop that!!

Also, on this Sunday, all the girls were wearing denim.

EISF 2014

On Saturday, Sept. 6, we made a trip to the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot. I always enjoy visiting the fair. We were hoping that Evan would be able to watch the Indian Relay Races. We saw a little bit through the hole in the fence, but not much. It is more of an adult event and would be hard with 4 little kids :/ We'll have to try another time. We did have fun at the fair and got a nice visit with Grandma Spencer afterwards.

Riley used to call cousin Allison, Aslan. So, when we saw this miniature pony, we just had to take a picture!
Lindsay wasn't too sure of the goat.

 Riley, however, liked it!

Good looking' crew. We enjoyed seeing all of the animals: rabbits, funky-looking chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, draft horses, miniature horses, etc. There was also a reptile exhibit with tortoises, iguanas, chameleons, snakes, etc. Ev's favorite thing to see was some gray, short cattle called "Murray Greys". We had fun talking to the guy who owned them.

Baby Kelsey Miracle

I wanted to share this miracle so I wouldn't forget it and let my kids know of the Lord's watchful eye over us. I know sometimes we can feel like things are just coincidence and forget the Lord's hand in our everyday lives.

We were having a "fire pit" with Grandpa and Grandma earlier in the year. Kelsey was wearing this shirt, sitting in the jogging stroller. She was further back than the log benches that are around the fire and all of our backs were turned toward her. A smoldering ash landed on her shirt and actually started the shirt on fire (a tiny one, mind you). I walked by right as Kelsey started to cry. I got the ash off of her and took her out of the stroller. The shirt was still smoking so I hurriedly got it off of her. She had a small blister from the burn but that was all. If I hadn't been walking by at that moment and noticed it (in my hustle and bustle), she could have been hurt so much more worse. I remember thanking the Lord that day for helping me to be aware of Kelsey in need! * The saddest this is this shirt is an "I love Mommy" shirt. Oh the irony!
In this top picture, you can see the red spots on her ankles. She was just recovering from having hand, foot, & mouth disease that she got from Jack and passed on to Stevie and Colin. :(

1st Day of School 2014

This year I sent two kiddos out the door on the first day of school!
Hyrum, 7 years old, has Mrs. Michelle Richins (again) for the 2nd grade at Raft River Elementary.
Riley, 5 years old, has Mrs. Hailey Boden for Kindergarten at Raft River Elementary. She goes only 3 days a week, but they are full days: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
They catch the bus about 7:40 am with Lecia Clark as their bus driver. School starts at 8:25. School gets out at 3:20 (except Monday is early out at 2:00). They get home between 4:00pm or 4:15.
The bus got there sooner than I had anticipated and before I knew it, they were boarding the bus and heading out! I didn't even have much time to cry. :) Happy school year!

Last fling before school

Since I go visiting teaching with some ladies from Juniper, we hiked the hike for our August visiting teaching right before school started. Its called "The Double Muncher"....the short version for "The Double BUTT Muncher". Wow. It was a great workout. Wendy Christiansen gave a great lesson at the top. It was a fun experience!

L to R: Jodi Campbell, Jaime Nelson, Beth Campbell (we don't teach her but she hikes it everyday), Tonya Nelson, Wendy Christiansen.
At the top, Melissa's husband Ben adds a rock to the pile every time he goes up. L to R: me, Melissa Campbell, Jodi Campbell, Wendy Christiansen, Jamie Nelson, Tonya Nelson.
This picture has Beth in it instead of me.
Grandma Turner bought these little homemade dolls for each of my girls.
We took a nice walk the day before school started. Looks way too much like summer for school to be starting!!

Ogden Temple

After we picked up Janeen from the airport, we got to go to the Ogden temple open house. There was sickness going around and I just remember praying that my children would be able to go and to feel the Spirit of The Lord. We were all able to attend....and as luck would have it, the next night was when Kelsey got hand, foot, and mouth blisters!

But it was beautiful! There was a beautiful painting of an African sister that I have never seen and I would like to know more of the story on that. But the ushers would hold out their hands/arms to direct you. Toward the end of the tour, Lindsay would hold out her arm toward them. It was so cute!
Everyone was able to attend except Rick and Jack. I love this picture!

And this picture was taken by aunt Cara after Janeen's homecoming. All of her siblings sang, "Brightly Beams Our Father's Mercy."  I think it turned out rather well! Dang! We're a good-looking bunch! :)
