Thanks Grandma Jan :)

Kalene and Eldon came to visit this past week. Did I get a single pic with them? No. (Kalene, I'll need your help with that) :)

However, in Kalene's "smokin'-hot-Camaro-that-she-rented-for-the-week" Grandma Jan loaded about 25 boxes filled with Evan's old toys. Hyrum thought it was Christmas.
But it was fun watching Ev and his siblings reminisce(sp?) about their childhood toys. Here are Evan and Hy riding Ev's & Justin's old stick ponies. Apparently, Hy is on Ev's old mount (Ev thinks he was probably a better trainer than Justin). It's harder to rope the cowboy toy when you're on a horse.
And here is the marble track. We don't have marbles around here, so we had to call on the neighbor boys to help us. Ev and Kalene were trying to figure out how they used to have races on that thing.
So, thanks for the memories, Grandma Jan!

New Haircut

You know how when you got new school shoes, you were pretty sure you could run faster and jump higher? That's kind of what a new haircut does for me. Something new and different, yay! Thanks, Jenny! :)

Curlers

These are pics of me and my daughter at about the same age.
Top right: Me and how I felt about curlers
Main left: Riley and how she feels about curlers
Top left: Riley with curlers again and how she feels about not getting a bottle (but the picture looked more like mine...)

Why I love living where I do!

Lexington Arch is in Snake Valley and where we plan to take the youth next month on a hike. I decided I had better scout it out and I brought my good friend Amber (and my little dog, Herbie, of course!)

At the arch--I didn't realize how big it is! Amber at the lookout

Me at the lookout

I CAN'T WAIT to take the YW and YM here!

Mount Washington is right above Decca's house. I've always wanted to go and just haven't. Yesterday, Ev watched the kids for me so Steve and Decca could take me on a 4-wheeler ride.

(View from Pickering's)(View from over half way up....on the switchbacks)(Looking down on Pickering's place)My tour guides by the mine (seriously, it is just like an Apple Dumpling Gang or other Walt Disney movies)Me on my 4-wheeler on topLooking over the mountain into Snake Valley. You can see Garrison (where we go to church and Baby Jeb is buried).Decca and Steve on top. I didn't realize how scared Decca was/is of heights. That is a forced smile...cute, but forced."I'm on top of the world!"My dirty face and Riley's feelings on her mom taking a picture instead of feeding her.

We like food

Mom, does this pic look familiar? (I have one of me on the family frame doing something very similar :)
Poor Riley. You'd think that I never feed her. Here she is signing "more." Except when she signs it, what she is really saying is "Dad, give me some of that food RIGHT NOW or I might perish from starvation....please." (Of course she remembers her manners). Everyday at lunch, she comes and begs food from Evan. Ev is glad that we don't have a lap dog or it would starve because Riley would beat it to the scraps :) *Riley would like to also thank Grandpa for her cute bear t-shirt from Yellowstone.
