"Chin-Cheeto Land" and "Dancing with the Stars"

Hyrum came up the stairs dressed like this one day.  He said, "Some people might call me an Indian.  But others call me a 'Chin-Cheeto'."  Then he went on to explain all about "Chin-Cheeto Land".

"Do you know what they call hamburgers in 'Chin-Cheeto Land'?  Chin-Cheeto Burgers."

Now, if he ever gets upset, he's supposed to say "Chin-Cheeto" as fast and as many times as he can.  It actually works at calming him down and making him laugh.
I was on the computer and Riley said, "Mom, I'm dancing with the star."  I looked at her, because we don't even have tv right now, so where could she have learned about "Dancing with the Stars?"

Sure enough, she was!

Lindsay's Blessing

Lindsay Israelsen was blessed in the Malta 1st Ward by her dad.  My mom made her dress and I made her afghan.
I forced Ev to keep his jacket on and Hy to stay dressed in order to get this picture. :)
4 generations: Grandmummsie, Great Grandma Ilajean Spencer, Lindsay, Me
Dad, A. Vickie, Steve, Kylie, Sara, Ann, U. Daryl
Evan, Sara, Ben, Kylie, Ann (and Steve's foot, Dad's head, U. Daryl's knee)
JC and Janeen in the kitchen
It was a nice day and fun to visit with family who came for the blessing!

9 Years

Yesterday marked 9 years of wedded bliss for Evan & I.  We were looking back at all of our anniversaries and this seemed to be one of the better ones.  The first year we were married was Mother's Day and we told our mothers (and fathers) we were expecting Jeb.  The second year, we placed the headstone on Jeb's grave and sang "Families Can Be Together Forever".  Our fourth anniversary, Ev brought up the subject of possibly looking for other work besides Malta (and moving) right after we had moved into our new house. I don't think that was a good subject to bring up that day :)  Our fifth anniversary, we moved "officially" to Spring Valley and we were sooooo sick.  See here.  Our sixth anniversary, I was on bed rest to keep Riley from coming too early.  Our eighth anniversary was deciding if we should move or not.

Ev promised me couches, since we have never officially owned any other than hand-me-downs.  We spent the day with Lindsay in Syracuse and Farr West, Utah, hunting down couches I had found on KSL.  (Thanks to Sara & JC for babysitting).  We had a fun day together, and I'm so excited about these couches.  So, come on over and SIT awhile :)  Love you, Ev!

Bad Happenings

One morning, Hy saw Grandpa while he was moving pipe.  He said,  "Grandpa, we've had some 'bad happenings' at our house today."

And we've had our share of "moving bumps".  The ice froze the sprinklers one night so that the sprinkler was shooting straight into our basement window well.  It flooded one room of the basement (the basement was just finished in February).

We got a stomach bug in our family.  Riley threw up on the couch that Grandma had just had cleaned.  Ev and Hy both had their turn as well.  Lindsay and I were lucky/blessed to not get it.

Ev parked his truck out in the field and another guy turned on the pivot.  The pivot just started crawling up the truck when Ev finally turned it off by climbing up the pivot tower.  It dented the passenger door.

And finally, Hy somehow flew off of his barstool and cracked his head open.  Luckily, Ev and Grandmummsie fixed him up with superglue and a butterfly bandage.  He's still got a scab on his head, but seems to be doing a-okay.  He was more worried about having to get stitches then about the pain!

Well, I'm hoping that's it for our bumps and lumps!  But we've been extremely blessed since moving here as well :)

And we're off!

We knew that with the timing of our move, we would have to land on our feet running.  We have been busy with projects and events galore, but (other than a little sick bug that hit) it's been great!
Ev & Hy killing the voles that had infested the lawn.  Drown them out and hit them with a shovel.  That was a better idea than the crossbow that Ev had out at first.
Moving pipe.  Hyrum went from watching Ev move pipe, to lifting the latch for him, to draining the water out, to unhooking a whole quarter-mile handline by himself.  He asks every night if he can go move pipe with Ev in the morning.
Setting out the K-line with Evan, Grandpa & Hyrum.  The new pride and joy of the farm is the K-line...a watering system that you can move on the back of a 4-wheeler.  I used to dream of something like this when I was a kid moving handlines and wheellines!

Good-byes

We are definitely going to miss Enterprise and our many friends there.  It was really hard to say good-bye.  In fact, some people I missed and it's probably good b/c I would have bawled my eyes out!

Riley and her "friends" (teachers) from nursery
"My nurseries gave me a doll!"
 Ev & Chuck
(*We picked up Chuck from a kid in Rexburg on the day I graduated and found out I was expecting Jeb.    As a puppy, he was so obnoxious, his life almost ended.  He's made every move with us until now-which means a lot in our family because of the way Evan buys and sells and trades dogs.  He is an average "cowdog" but a great family dog.  He was on the front page of the Las Vegas Review Journal when they did a write up on the ranch in Nevada.  Anyway, a few months ago, Ev told me that he gave Chuck to the Humphries.  He's at a great home now and those Humphries kids adore him.  The last time we saw him you could see he's starting to go deaf.  It's kind of sad, but he'll have a good place to live out his life.  We'll miss you Chuck!)
The Humphries-these guys are like family to us!  They've been our neighbors for 4 years now.  I don't know what I'll do without them!  (L-R: Hyrum, Brooke, Ashlee holding Lindsay, Austin, Amanda holding Riley, Bryson.)
 Hyrum & Friends @ park
(LtoR: AJ Baker, Paige Bowler, Hyrum, Crew Evans [and Riley on the slide!])
Lindsay & Friends
(Nathan Holt, Nelson Holt, Lindsay, Emilee Evans)
I couldn't get Riley's age group to sit still.  Here she is sliding with Paige.
Some of my friends: Shelley Holt (her hubby manages the dairy, Heather Holt (Alison Batt Nielsen's little sister), Julee Evans (my partner in crime in Sunbeams).
Martha Baker and Melinda Bowler--these ladies are just awesome!

And so many other friends that I don't have pics of! They are so great :) I really did love my friends and time in Enterprise.  We made some good memories.  It'll be fun to go back!

We've moved!

This is what the apartment looked like about 3 weeks ago.  This scene has been way too familiar in the last 9 years...

We'll miss Enterprise and our dear friends there greatly.  But we're so excited to be back in Malta and for the opportunities that await us!
