Long John Hon-Yocks

(* "Hon-yock" is an Evan/Hyrum word. I don't know how to spell it, but that is how it sounds. I think it means "wild-crazy-I'm-gonna-get-you-and-yeah". Maybe ask Evan.) Riley is about to grow out of her long-johns and Hy just got his, so I got some pics of the both of them. They might even end up on the Christmas card...who knows :)

I hope they call me on a mission....

Hyrum did an fhe lesson on missionary work. Aren't they the cutest little missionaries in the world???

Superheroes

Mom used to safety pin baby blankets on us so we could be superheroes. It was fun when Hy told me he wanted to be Superman the other day.

Dynamite!

I know it's silly, but every now and again, I have to have a laugh at Napoleon. I like it b/c I grew up by there and I get to see Preston but sometimes I felt like a dork in high school like Napoleon. Anyway, the kids got a kick of it as well. :)

Once there was a snow man!!

*I realize that it is the first day of spring, but it's like a blizzard outside anyway, so it works!

Hyrum has been begging to build a snowman all winter and it never happened. I kept explaining that you need the "right" kind of snow for it to happen. I think he's been praying for it and two weeks ago we got the perfect snowman snow!

I'm glad we did it early b/c by the afternoon our snowman was two lumps and the rest of the snow was gone.

Evan came in for breakfast while we were making it and it's a good thing he did. We couldn't lift the middle section on without him! Does anyone notice the mustache? We named him the "Poppa Bernie" snowman.

Afterwards, we came in for hot chocolate with mini-marshmellows.

That's my girl!

Spinach-Stuffed "Flunk" abellas

In efforts to eat healthier and to lose weight, I've been trying new recipes. My family has been patient and supportive in these endeavors. Evan will even let me make vegetarian recipes...once a month (and he grills up some lamb chops as the side dish for himself and anyone else who wants some).

Tonight, I tried "Spinach-stuffed portabellas". I was excited. They looked good and were healthy. And I'm always happy to say that my kids are great eaters....most of the time.
Riley tried one bite and was done.

Ev and Hy got in from chores. Hyrum saw them first and says very politely, "Um, Mom, these are REALLY 'uty' (yucky)." Ev looked at them...swallowed hard and said, "I tried your portobello pizzas and almost barfed. I just can't do it."

I think it is great to cook healthy, but it is also important to cook for my family.
So now Evan is cooking hotdogs for the rest of the family. The 'shrooms weren't bad...but I'll admit, they weren't that great, either. One more recipe tossed in the garbage!
