Hyrum's engaged!

Hyrum proposed to Brooke the other day. Here's how it went down on the way to story hour.

Hyrum: I'm going to marry BrooTe.

Me: You can't just decide that. You have to ask Brooke-y if she wants to marry you.

Hyrum: Do you want to Det married?

Brooke: Yeah, sure.

So in the year 2038 (because I'm sure Brandon won't let Brooke marry until she is 32) look for the announcements via your 2038 digital device :)

PS-Amber, sorry that you had to hear about your daughter's engagement via a Blog.

Piggie tails and tractor day

I put Hy and Ri both in tractor shirts. Hy asked all day if we were having a tractor party. Riley was taking a big sigh right before this picture and it just makes me giggle!!
And for ANYONE that knows me, you know that I hate doing hair. My own especially. So this is a HUGE feat. I put Riley's hair in pigtails. It took hours. Well, not really, but it took patience on my part so yay for me.

Weanie Roast

Ev invented a new fire pit for us outside. Actually I don't think he invented it. But he drug it over from somewhere with the backhoe and plopped it on our lawn.

I started this blaze of glory but Ev kept it alive. 3-year olds and hot dog sticks are funny. But dangerous.

The inevitable s'more mess.

Still not convinced.

This lil' lady will scoot all over for a "puff" but still won't crawl. Not that I'm all excited for her to be extremely mobile. She gets in her little Jeep walker and is already opening drawers, playing with phone cords, etc.

Tooth

This is "Baby Tooth". I call her that because although she has "teeth" (5 as of yesterday), her top front one kind of sticks out.

Things Riley has been up to lately:
  • She refuses to crawl. She's gone up on her hands and knees, wants to move, but WILL NOT crawl. She told me it might callous her knees.
  • She enjoys "puffs" to eat and now thinks that all things on the dirty floor are for her consumption.
  • She has little man voice and makes Aunt Decca giggle when she uses it.
  • She likes to hear herself talk in general.
  • She can wave "bye-bye".
  • The other night in the tub, I was telling her, "Kick, kick, kick." And I'm pretty sure she was saying it back to me.

What a doll! It gives me something to smile about when I get to see THAT everyday :)

Discussions

Talking to a 3-year old is always quite entertaining for me. Today we were discussing grandpas and I explained to him that my Grandpa Johnson had died and was in heaven. Then somehow we talked about how we'll all die and go to heaven.

"But I've got to work," Hy reasoning that he couldn't die.

"Oh, you'll be doing work in heaven," I answered.

Hy's little brow furrowed. Then, suddenly, his whole face lit up. "BeTause Jesus said, 'Feed my sheep.'"

Yes, that's right. After he dies, Hy looks forward to feeding Jesus' sheep.

April Fool's

Ever since I was little, I've loved trying to outsmart everyone with April Fool's jokes. Last year, I really got Evan and even some others by saying Riley was a boy on the ultrasound. That was probably my best one.
This year, Mother Nature got us the best. Here is Hy's and my snowman with wild "hair". Then we decided Aunt Decca needed one in the back of her truck. ;)

But I got both Hy and Jessica with the old "Sprite in your cup instead of water trick.
