Branding, Haircuts, and hot days!!!

This is Hyrum at his first branding. He went around chasing the calves trying to get in with them. This is Evan (in the red) and Bryson (on the calf). Right as the calf gets up, Ev helps Bryson jump aboard for a "wild ride." What a cowboy!! (Bryson is the boy I taught kindergarten to this winter...we're starting school again next week.) Victor is in the back wondering about the weird traditions of these "gringos."Hyrum and Brooke were walking around together checking out the calves. It was cute while they were walking but I didn't get the camera fast enough.
Hy got his haircut after the branding. I just bought some new clippers and they scatter hair all over the place...my old ones kept the cut hair clumped together better or something. Anyway, it was torture to Hyrum and this is about what he did the whole time I was cutting his hair.
This is just the sandbox in our back yard. It is a perfect, HUGE backyard and we love playing in it. We had a hamburger fry last night and basically spent the whole afternoon back there yesterday. In fact, Hyrum is asking me now why we're in the house because he wants to go play outside. He was saying "Chuck" (our dog) today. It was pretty dang cute.

Sick and Tired....

....of being sick and tired! So I don't know if this bug is an epidemic or if we were just in the middle of a move, so we got two groups of people sick. Anyway, from our family/friends who have had this little flu bug, it lasts for a week, a month....yeah, it's a doozy. All three of us have had it since last week (Ev's had it for two weeks). We're over the lying in bed moaning wishing that we could die; however, we still have a nasty cough/sore throat.

So, the worst thing about it (besides being in the middle of a move) is that on Friday, it was our 5th wedding anniversary--yeah, a big one. It was like the bug got its second wind and knocked us both flat for the day. Our conversation was something like this:

Jen: "I'm going to make some Theraflu---want some?"

Evan: "Yeah."

Jen, presenting Ev with his Theraflu: "Happy 5th Anniversary."

Evan: "Yeah."

As Evan so delicately put it, we were lying on the La-Z-Boys wiping our noses on each other...

This pic is Ev and Hyrum still recuperating(sp?) and is a great demonstration of how we've felt all week. Oh, Hyrum has never snuggled until now. That's how sick he is.

Anyway, we're going to celebrate our anniversary later when we don't feel so crappo!

Happy Mother's Day

Sunday morning, Ev brought me breakfast in bed and a beautiful flower. The lady at the grocery store gave Hyrum a carnation on Saturday that he was supposed to give to me. He basically just tore it apart for me We went to Jeb's grave and put up a little sun-spinny decoration. It was a great day. I love being a mother. It makes me appreciate my mom, Evan's moms, and our grandmas.
I love that quote, "Mothers of boys are busy from 'son' up 'til 'son' down."

Happy 50th B-day, Dad!

My dad just turned 50 last month and we threw a little shindig for him a little bit later. It was so much fun for me and I just enjoyed getting to see everyone. Here's Dad with Decca Sue. Look at that blazin' cake!
These are my parents and siblings. (L to R, top:) J.C., Jessica, Dad, Mom, and Janeen. (L to R, bottom:) Janelle, Jen. *Janelle, I've decided that you probably could have stood up. I still needed to crouch in front of Mom.
And last is a pic of Dad with his mom, stepfather, sisters, brother-in-law, and wife.

I've decided that he's really not that OLD, however, I slightly remember my own grandparents being in their late 50's when I was a kid, so........

Happy Birthday, Dad! You're lookin' good!

Moved!!

Hey ya'll! We are moved and unpacking boxes, cleaning, etc. We are doing really well and are excited to be here with our new job. We are going to miss our friends and family from Malta very much (as well as the new house, the hospital, the school.....etc.) but we're excited and optimistic for our opportunities here. We love our neighbors and the view from our house is absolutely gorgeous. Here are some pics of our house that has been recently repainted. Out with the dark panelling and in with a new paint job...yay!

This is how my men spent Sunday after the big drive and unpacking heavy furniture.
This is our bed in the M. Bdrm with the green paint. I'll have to try and get a better picture. It looked awesome though.

And this last sideways pic shows our hall with the cedar trim. (sorry, once again I can't rotate). But it just lightened this hallway up a bunch.

The rest of today has been unpacking and tomorrow we are branding. It will be Hyrum's first...I should probably take my camera.
