End of School Year Fun

For the end of school talent show, Hyrum and his friend, Thomas Harper recited Shel Silverstein's "Captain Jim". They were awesome.
Weather was so weird! The mild winter and then we had a week's worth of rain in May. It felt like Ireland....although I've never been and have no idea what Ireland feels like.
Hy's class hugging his friend Gunner good-bye. (Gunner moved to Kingman, AZ).
For some reason, Decca and I went to a restaurant in Ogden with Mom & Dad. It had cool "wagon" booths.

I got to go with the 2nd graders on a field trip to the Pocatello Zoo.

The two "non-academic" daughters. But they are so cute!
 Kindergarten Graduation! Yay, Riley!
 Riley with Mrs. Boden.
Mrs. Boden had a baby, so this is Riley with her other teacher, Mrs. Peterson.
Where Riley sat in her room.
 Her buddy, Zayne Bingham.
 Her friend, Sammi Smith.
It was a terrific year with good teachers and great memories!

Sweet Six and a Minion Party!!!

Riley turned 6 and had a minion party!
(Top to Bottom, L to R: Hannah Gilbert, Maddie Rex, Sadie Gilbert, Sammi Smith,
Riley, Kimbrey Parke, (not pictured: Grace Harper b/c she didn't want to be in the pic))

I actually painted 70 tiny fingernails because none of the girls were missing any fingers. Unfortunately. Just kidding. But I painted a minion on all of their thumbs and then the rest of their nails were blue and yellow. I'm fairly expensive if you want to hire me for birthday parties.
Pin the eyes on the minion was a success.

 Then we decorated minion cupcakes.
 She got an Elsa sweatshirt
and a drawing thing from Gma Vicki. Gmummsie gave her a church dress and two pairs of cute shoes.
We had pizza & Minion twinkies for her actual birthday.
Her big gift was her new dollhouse!
Love our minion, Riley. She is a super big sister. She has a quick smile and a fun giggle. She is a wonderful blessing to our family!

Some of my favorite things!

Hyrum got a new George Strait shirt. The next morning he was wearing it and said, "Mom, I sure like my new Dave Strait shirt." Then he laughed and said, "I almost called it a Dave Sundberg shirt" (Dave is in our ward and is a bachelor up in the mountains. He is about as opposite of George Strait as you can get).

We've had the crop duster plane flying over our house a lot this summer. Hyrum was calling it the "Dust Cropper".
The girls and their fairy wings

Lindsay was telling us that one day, her daughters would be named "Laddie & Bloom-Bloom". When we asked what her husband's name would be, she replied, "Pilla, Pilla." When asked why, she said it was because he liked to sleep a lot!

Up at the corrals. I LOVE this picture!

Ri: We're setting a trap.
Hy: Oh Ri, you just told Mom & Dad!
Ri: No I didn't. Hey Dad, do you want to come downstairs?
Riley and I hiked the R mountain with the curly hair (Gilbert) girls.

Ri & Hy were discussing the difference between hogs and pigs.
Hy: They are the same thing.
Ri: No, hogs have horns on their mouth!

 Grandpa Spencer's popcorn for FHE

We were driving somewhere as a family. I dropped something and said, "Son of a....." Hyrum chirped in: "PITCH!" Shocked, I asked what he said.
"Pitch," he said proudly. "Like 'son of a pitch'!"
I clarified that it was /p/ and he said yes. Then I asked where he heard it from.
"From Dad. I heard him say it!"
I looked at Evan, laughing.
"Oh I've only said it a couple of times," Ev tried to defend himself.
"No, you say it all the time!" Hy protested.
By now I was laughing so hard that I couldn't question Hyrum anymore. Kids are way too honest!!!

Thanks to Decca for ordering the wrong size of shirt, Jibbers and I got matching "Mama Bear" and "Baby Bear" shirts. They are fun!!

Hikes, Bubbles, Goats, and Tulips!

Mom & I hiked to the top of the "R".

The kids playing at Gmummsie's park
We brought the "kids" for the "kids" at school! For some reason, I didn't get a pic of the kindergarten, but it was a HIT for the 2nd Grade.
Gma bought a bubble machine for the warmer weather. I love the progression of these pictures.

Our first baby pygmy goat. Lindsay named her little goat "Pyg-a-my".

Jibbers and I went with Poppa Jeff, Gma Turner, Ken and met up with Decca & Neener & Mac at Thanksgiving Point for the tulip festival. It was lots of fun!
 Jibbers at the Secret Garden

And here are Stevie and Jibbers. We couldn't get a "still" photo.
And while we were there, we happened to run into Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve and his wife, Wendy Watson Nelson. Mummsie was a little envious. I snatched this photo of Granny Turner running him down to shake Elder Nelson's hand. I didn't shake his hand, but we passed him about 3 times. Pretty neat!!!
