Lindsay's Mirror Friend

When Lindsay sees her "mirror friend" she can't help but give her big slobber kisses!! She loves her!

Hy's new look

The mohawk for crazy hair day.  It didn't even last 24 hours. It was driving me crazy.
 Watch out for your ankles!
Riley with some of her animals and a "dress". We made it out of Ev's old "wild rag" (a buckaroo scarf).
And Hyrum with his partial face paralysis after visiting the dentist. We laughed at him. Ev got pics of me on his cell phone.  It's pretty funny. Fortunately, he doesn't know how to put them on the internet! ;)

It's for the kids....

...is what Evan told me when he bought the pony. But he wanted to try the new "burro", Buford, out and I think he wanted something a little closer to the ground.  The corgi in these pics just adds to the whole aura, don't you think?
Riley: "I want to ride my pony!"
Two heels! Yee-haw or Hee-haw.

FINALLY!! Daddy let her have a turn! Oh so happy :)

Sweet Potato Tri II

So in my pursuit to get more people involved in triathlons, we started a mini-triathlon at Grush's.  I didn't know how it would turn out or what it would be like, since it wasn't "real" but they have been lots of fun.  We swim for 10 minutes in Grush's pool (this is especially good for people who are scared of the swimming part--you can rest on the side, you can do any stroke...heck you could even "waterwalk" if you want!)
Then we'd bike 7 miles on the paved road and then run 2.5 miles back to Grush's house.  I didn't know if people would race and push themselves, but we actually just stuck together more and chit-chatted and visited, etc.  It was more like an exercise group, but it gave people a taste of what a triathlon feels like.

I missed the last one they did, so I don't know if there will be anymore this year--but it is an awesome way to exercise :)
So this was sold....

And this was bought. (Aren't they the same thing?)
These were sold.

And this was bought instead. (And it started braying at me soon after I took the picture. Lovely)

I don't ask why, I don't even bother trying to figure it out.  I just shake my head and smile.  Why?
Because I love this:

EISF

I love being back in Idaho for the Eastern Idaho State Fair. I loved going to the 70's rock bands with dad as a teenager, I remember going as a little girl, and I enjoyed going with Evan when we lived in Malta before. It was fun to go again this year (a lot more work with kids), especially with Ben & Ann.  We were pretty much chasing kids, so here is the best "action" shot between dogs shows, nursing babies in public, looking at animals, avoiding the Living Scriptures salesguy, nursing babies in public again, and eating expensive food.

We were supposed to be going over to the petting zoo when Hyrum saw the antique tractor show and ran over. The guy there told Hyrum he could sit on some tractors.  He thought this old combine was pretty cool since we had just finished with harvest. He couldn't believe how funny the auger was!
And THEN....the guys saw Hyrum sitting on this Johnny Popper and asked Hyrum if he wanted to hear what it sounded like. He started it right up for Hyrum! Hyrum loved it!!!
And you can't go to the fair without stopping to see Grandma Spencer! Fun traditions.
And to anyone I flashed while nursing,  I apologize.

Tea Time!

Good thing we have a "Fancy Nancy" who lives in our home and keeps Lindsay and I up-to-date on the latest fashions. She threw us a tea party.

Harvest

I love living in a place that has seasons.  I love harvest time. I love that things are changing color and enjoying the last days of the summer. I love all the fairs that are going on and then that school starts.

Our garden wasn't much this year. Dad laughs at our one foot high corn stalks, but our corn is pretty dang good!
Mom came over yesterday to help us bottle peaches. I used to hate canning and bottling but now, when I do it, I find it really satisfying--especially when I do it with others.

Happy Harvesting!

Funny Wunnies

So I put this raspberry on my finger and sang "The sun'll come out, tomorrow......" My kids didn't get it.  And the one below was "Daddy Warbucks." I don't think Evan got it either.

The kids thought they were pretty clever to put the Bumbo on their heads. Martians or King Tut?

Lindsay was teaching Hyrum & Riley how to do "Super Baby" and fly!

This is currently Riley's "funny face" for the camera.

Hy's first day of School!

Hyrum loved swimming lessons this year. He's getting pretty good in the water :) He kind of liked his teacher, Summer Grush (a 14/15 year old girl). She's pretty cute and I think his buddies Trevor and Shawn liked her as well.  But Hyrum doesn't like to talk about it! Hahaha

Yay for Kindergarten! I didn't cry; neither did Hyrum.  We were both really excited.  I just wanted to go to school with him.  Especially just to watch him! But he likes it and likes his teacher, Mrs. Wight.

Waiting for the bus out in front of our house the second day!

The Sandbox

I'm pretty lucky to be married to the guy I'm married to! He built the kids a sandbox. If a sandbox isn't love, then I don't know what is :)

And then, to top it all off, he showed them how to make tunnels.  I got to show them how to make sand castles.  Yeah, a sandbox is a wonderful thing.  We'll worry about getting all of the sand out of hair, clothes, cracks, house, etc when the snow flies.

My Big Girl!

Riley did really well at swimming lessons.  She progressed so much and by the end of swimming was sticking her face in the water! Yay!

After the family reunion in July, we started potty-training.  By the end of the month, she was doing awesome and earned her "mermaids" by completing her sticker chart.
We got a bike from some friends and Riley took off on it the first day.  She had fun, but had a hard time getting down.  Since then, she's been a little apprehensive to get one, but I think she'll love it once she figures out the getting on and off part.
